Forest Edward Gross was born on 19 September 1881 in Osborn, Greene Co., OH; His obituary and headstone show "Forrest", but he spelled his name "Forest" in adulthood, including on both his WWI and WW II draft registrations. He married Margaret Elizabeth "Lizzie" Shaffner before 1915,

; Marriage record not found. Margaret appears to have first married to Harry Alexander Craig (1889-1976) in December, 1909, per 30 DEC 1909 edition of The Weekly Republican (Sidney, Ohio), page 1, "Marriages Licenses", (Newspapers.com). They were listed living together in Dayton on the 1910 census (Dayton Ward 1, Dist. 51, sheet 5B, dwelling 78). That marriage brief -- Harry was remarried and living in Detroit by the time of his WW I draft registration. Margaret was remarried to Forest before preparation of the 1915 Dayton city directory, in which he was listed with wife Margaret. They were still listed together as of the 1923 city directory, but apparently divorced soom thereafter.¹

He married Blanch C. Long in 1930; Blanche was first married to William Henry Berry and had two children, William Jr. (1907) and Margaret (1915-1989) Berry. He died on 20 October 1965 in Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH,

GROSS, Forrest E., age 84, of 617 Oak St., died Wed. at the Delp Nursing Home. He was a retired painting contractor.

Survived by one son, LeRoy, Dayton, 2 sisters, Mrs. Edna Ruben, of Florida and Mrs. Ethel Smith of Dayton; 2 brothers, Harry of Dayton and Lester of Cincinnati; 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.
