FOSTER, William Harry, “Bill”, age 94 of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2018 in Beavercreek. He was born on February 26, 1923 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Roger and Marjorie Foster. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1941. In 1942, he entered the military and proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp as an Army ROTC, Field Artillery, chemical warfare, and radio operator. He met his wife, Jane Vogelbein of St. Louis near the end of his time in the military and was married in April 1946. He graduated from the Ohio State University with a DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree in 1951 and soon after began a dentistry practice in Springfield, Ohio. He opened the dentistry practice with his good friend and colleague, Dr. Dan Collins, Sr. Bill took great pride in his work and enjoyed meeting and serving new patients. Bill served as president of the local dental society. He retired from dentistry in 1990. Bill enjoyed many hobbies, including golf, bicycling, photography, watercolor painting, traveling, baking bread, Tai Chi, exercising, and playing the piano. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was a member of Oakland Presbyterian Church for over 70 years and recently had been attending St. Marks United Methodist Church in Springfield.

He is survived by his children, Roger (Marlena) Foster of Enon, Ohio; Barbara (Bud) Banks of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren: Benjamin (Andrea Dillon) Foster of Union, Ohio; Billy (Danielle) Banks of Chicago, Illinois; Brett (Genevieve) Banks of Brooklyn, New York; and Sarah (Jeremiah) Raddatz of Graham, North Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Elyse; and many nieces and nephews, including niece Amy Hogan of Dayton, and nephews Greg Atkinson and Roger Atkinson, both of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Roger Foster; his beloved wife of 62 years, Jane Foster; and his sister, Martha Atkinson.

He was buried in January 2018 in Rose Hill Burial Park, Springfield, Clark Co., OH, Findagrave #186867740.

Dr. William Harry Foster was also known as "Bill" Foster.
